Who I am
About me
I build fast, beautiful, functional, and user-friendly websites and applications. I have been writing code since 2015 and care deeply about the craft.
Background
A bit about me
I am a front-end developer based in Renswoude, Netherlands. By day I work at OPMAATZAGEN.nl and Shelvy®. OPMAATZAGEN.nl is a scalable e-commerce platform for made-to-measure wood products, serving customers across 15+ countries. Shelvy® is a Dutch made-to-measure modular furniture brand built around an online 3D configurator that lets customers design and order custom cabinets down to the exact centimeter. In the evenings and weekends I run Arctic Webfox, my freelance practice where I build custom digital solutions for local and regional entrepreneurs.
My focus is on the front-end, but I am comfortable across the full stack. I enjoy working close to the product, from design to a deployed, polished interface. I have a particular interest in developer experience, type safety, and getting the details right.
Alongside software development, I served in the Dutch Army Reserve (Korps Nationale Reserve) for nearly six years, reaching the rank of Corporal. That experience shaped how I approach teamwork, structure, and showing up consistently.

Favourite book
Eene Egyptische Koningsdochter by Georg Ebers. A sweeping historical novel set in ancient Egypt during the reign of Cambyses II. It has everything: politics, intrigue, and a world meticulously reconstructed from antiquity.

Interests
Reading
Historical fiction is my favourite genre. Big fan of Joel C. Rosenberg and Johan Klein Haneveld, with a soft spot for anything set in ancient Egypt. I keep a digitalized shelf of around 400 physical books.
Podcasts
History, law, and current events. A good podcast makes commutes and chores significantly better.
Hiking
Exploring the Utrecht Hill Ridge region on foot. I document my routes on AllTrails. The landscape around Renswoude is quietly underrated.
Games
Board games at the table: Catan, Saboteur, Bohnanza. Strategy and simulation on screen: Hearts of Iron IV and Cities: Skylines. Also happy to play table tennis at the office.
